Fashion Hong Kong at New York Fashion Week

10:30 AM

New York Fashion Week shows never cease to amaze. They’re chaotic and quick but somehow graceful and elegant simultaneously. Before moving to Manhattan, I could only dream of seeing a live fashion show. I would watch the shows from the screen of my computer, never thinking that one day I would be one of the dimly lit faces watching from the front row.

Even after seeing a handful of shows, the magic never dies. The shows never become less exciting, my heart never stops fluttering, and the butterflies never die when I’m attending one. Although the thrill stays constant, I found I have become more and more comfortable at these events. I’m more confident in my dress, I know when to arrive (a good half hour early), and I know what to pay my attention to.

The Fashion Hong Kong show consisted of three collections by different designers. Each collection proved unique in it’s own way, but my favorite was HIDY N.G. by Hidy Ng which featured simple silhouettes with attention to small detail. Hidy Ng used eye catching metallic finishes paired with black and white basic outfits.

Much like HIDY N.G., my outfit consisted of a classic silhouette with distinguishing small details. I wore a seemingly simple outfit; a white button up and black dress pants. The quirks laid within large frilled sleeves and wedges with polka-dotted socks.

It was an absolute privilege to live out my dreams for yet another season.
Until next time NYFW.

Sincerely,
Mel & Mel
